Some children need orthopedic training for a variety of different reasons. They may have been born with some sort of birth defect that’s affecting their ability to complete daily activities or suffered from an injury that was caused by an accident. Here are some of the types of orthopedic training for children in Philadelphia that may help them.

Standing Rotations

This type of exercise entails rotating the shoulders to each side. Standing rotations can strengthen the back and abdominal muscles. This will help children that are dealing with certain muscle injuries or have a weak core.

Leg Raises

It’s not uncommon for children to injure their legs due to tripping and falling when they are playing. Leg raises can help them. The child will need to lay on their side and raise their leg about a foot off of the ground. They will need to repeat this several times on each side.

Squats

For children that have a knee injury, they may need to do squats as part of their orthopedic training for children in Philadelphia. They will have to stand with their feet apart. They will outstretch their arms to keep their balance, and they will lower their body into a squatting position. They should hold the squat for several seconds before returning to their starting position.
